Reel for 10' surf spinning rod

Hi, All. I have a 10' St . Croix spinning rod rated for 1/2 to 3 oz. I have a Penn B T L ll 6000 to use on her. I would like to get another reel for it if the 6000 is to big fir it. I'll be using it for Snapper Blues, Whiting, small fish in close. I like Penn reels, I would like to stay with them. Also in a surf fishing tournament were you can use 2 rods. Would you use one or both to fish with, One spiked, holding one. I use Mono on all my reels.

I think a 6000 series reel would be a good match for a 10 foot stick but since you own it go fish it! see how well it feels to you and if it well balanced combo. What I mean is does it feel heavy in the the butt end meaning while holding the rod for grip this is just a comfort thing after hours of casting, if heavy in the butt end or you feel a smaller reel would suit your needs go for a 5000 series.

Thank's Strike Zone. I put the 6000 on her ,little off balance. Went to Cabelas and bought a Shimono Stradic C 5000XG. Reel is super lite and smooth as silk. Balanced real nice on rod. Had 20# braid put on her. I'll give braid another try.

Thank's Strike Zone. I always fish with mono when surf fishing, I've had not so nice times when I used braid in the past. That's why I want to try it for smaller fish, in close. On the 11' rod , I'll use 20# mono.
